What is computer science?
Computer science explores how computers work, from learning about the systems, programs, and technologies to becoming an expert in manipulating these to solve complex problems. You'll be part of an ever-evolving industry that's shaping our future.

As part of this computer science degree, you’ll:

Hands-on learning
Practical experience is at the heart of your learning. We have strong relationships with industry, and you'll have the option to do a placement year. Previous students have gained experience in computer science jobs at NHS Digital, Sky, and Rolls-Royce.

Group projects and presentations, along with hackathons and competitions, help you link theory to industry practice as you complete your degree in computer science.

Specialist facilities

As a BSc Computer Science student at Leeds Beckett, you'll have access to a range of useful resources. These include a dedicated networking lab where you can learn how to configure networks and work on industry-standard network management tools.

You'll also have access to our sandbox lab with full administrator rights, giving you the freedom to work with a range of technologies. This enables you to develop advanced skills using a variety of tools, as well as providing the opportunity to learn systems development with Raspberry Pi and IoT.
