  • We have a range of studio spaces including a double-height studio for set builds for film production, Our Motion Capture studio utilises a range of sophisticated technology to enable the creation of industry-level VFX and VP, blending physical and virtual set design. The 3D workshops support physical set construction, prop design, model-making, 3D printing and our digital media workshops support the world building, concept art, digital drafting, design and previsualising sets for screen production using SketchUp, VectorWorks, AutoCAD and Unreal Engine.

  • The Kit Hub has a vast collection of high-end creative tech to support student projects including professional cameras, sound recording kit and VR headsets. With strong relationships with industry partners, Canon, Sony and AVID, Kit Hub is vital resource for our creative community to keep up to date with the latest tech.

Placements in film and TV
MDX Studios is a vibrant, industry-connected hub for hands-on learning, research, and innovation - where university meets the real world. We offer a unique environment where students collaborate with external partners to develop cutting-edge skills and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Through our partnership with Screen London, MA Production Design students have the chance to gain work experience on live sets alongside numerous professionals making content for film, TV, streaming and immersive media including production and set designers, art directors, set builders, prop masters and more. You will benefit from exposure to the real world of making creative content and gain direct access to a thriving network of professionals in film production and creative technical fields.

At MDX Studios, you won’t just study - you’ll work. Our MA programmes feature one- and two-year options with embedded, credit-bearing work placements on live industry projects. Placements can be long or short, and if a suitable opportunity is not available with an industry partner, we will create professional settings for you to work on university-led projects. You’ll build your CV while gaining experience in professional contexts, from independent content creation to working on productions in our state-of-the-art facilities.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
