Course summary

This programme is ideal for anyone who aspires to be a future business executive - from ambitious entrepreneurs to those wishing to climb the corporate ladder. If you’re serious about developing, applying and growing your career prospects in a highly connected and ever-changing global business environment, then this course will open doors for you as a future business leader in a wide variety of sectors.
This course is a single year top-up degree, for those who have completed Year 1 and Year 2 in a comparable programme. This means it’s perfect for you if you already have a foundation degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Business Management or Business Studies.

WORK-READY BUSINESS SKILLS +
Employers seek graduates who are not just academically qualified but are also work-ready with professional skills in management and leadership. A key feature of Business Management at BNU is our blend of academic study and skills development in order to enhance the employability of our graduates. This top-up course equips you with the skills you need to become a confident and successful business leader, capable of achieving results and succeeding in your graduate career.

WORK PLACEMENTS IN THE REAL WORLD +
This course gives you countless opportunities to gain real-life experience while you study, thanks to the strong industry links and wide range of industry experience of our teaching staff. Engaging with a broad range of external businesses and organisations, as well as personal mentoring on career prospects from your tutors, gives you valuable insights and knowledge about the options that lie ahead – so you can better plan the right future path for you.

SMALL CLASSES TAUGHT BY INDUSTRY LEADERS +
Experience the advantage of smaller class sizes, where experienced tutors and students build strong and supportive relationships, with one-to-one teaching and support. This directly enables our students to practise and model the skills and behaviours that help them become innovative thinkers, great team-players, articulate presenters and brilliant problem solvers.

What will I study?
The focus of this one-year degree is to prepare you for a career in business.
For the new generation of managers, change is the only constant. This programme equips you with not only the knowledge and understanding of contemporary best practice in strategic international management in a volatile world – it will also develop your personal skills to prepare you for your first roles in management or for running your own business.

There is a strong emphasis on leadership skills, particularly within the changing business environment, which will enhance your employability. The Independent Professional Project is a key focus, enabling students to specialise in their particular area of interest. This gives you the edge when you graduate, allowing you to showcase your specific area of expertise at job interviews.
Our strong links with industry and knowledge of their needs has directly shaped this course. We will introduce key business speakers and live briefs as assessments throughout the course. We leverage our connections with the Chartered Management Institute to provide leading industry research and insight into the challenges of the business world. Our active alumni network provides guest speakers, live briefs, careers talks, networking events and job application advice across the programme.
In addition to your studies, BNU regularly holds events to enrich your university experience and enhance your employability, such as a management fair, recruitment events, and alumni networking social meetings.

Assessment method

At BNU, we foster an interactive and student-focused teaching style because we think it best prepares you for success after your studies. We blend lectures, workshops, independent study, case studies, live briefs and guest speakers to enhance your learning experience.
This course focuses on the ability to think critically and will enable you to analyse and evaluate solutions to complex, real-life problems. It will equip you with knowledge of contemporary management theories and, of equal importance, give you the opportunity to apply and integrate that knowledge in live projects.
We put students in the shoes of a junior business executive and ask ‘what would you do?’ We want you to have the right mix of knowledge, skills and abilities to be career-ready graduates who can seamlessly fit into any organisation that you choose to join or start as an entrepreneur.
Our assessments are rooted in the real world, with live briefs and cases that challenge our students to produce a result – not simply demonstrate knowledge of a subject. We ask for management reports, strategic reports, marketing campaigns and digital advertising activities that are assessed through a mixture of presentations and short films, as well as reports, memos and briefings.
