Course summary

If you’re working, or want to work, in residential and community-based health, social care, and related settings, then this Health and Social Care top-up course is for you.

You’ll develop an awareness of the changing political, philosophical, economic, cultural and social contexts of health and social care services. You’ll also be encouraged to look at the current health and social care quality and performance agendas.

This course is aimed at people who are interested in pursuing a career working in the Health & Social Care sector. With this top up degree, you can increase the skills required to work in adult social care services, hospitals, children’s services and other related occupations within the private, public and voluntary sector.

The main topic areas covered within this programme are research skills and critical enquiry skills, health promotion, safeguarding, leadership skills. You can select topics that you are interested in when undertaking a Practice Based Research to support you to develop your independent critical thinking skills and problem solve effectively. This will inspire you to pursue your interests and areas of practice.
