Law with International Relations (with Foundation Year)

Our LLB Hons Law with international relations degree will add an international dimension to your legal studies with this challenging and interesting combination. Your degree will combine the study of legal systems and international affairs.

You will:

gain valuable insights into the global political context and the social and cultural aspects of how the legal system functions
learn how law is made and administered, gain an understanding of the English legal system and study key aspects of civil and criminal law
be introduced to international relations in your first year.
You will then take one international relations module in each of your second and third years. As this is a joint degree, and you have core courses; there will not be any optional modules. With your joint degree, you'll find many career opportunities in both law and international relations.

Year 1:
What’s Going On (How Do We Know, and What Can We Do About It?): Mental Wealth 1, English Legal System, Legal Skills, Public Law, Contract Law, International Relations.

Year 2:
Equity and Trusts, Tort Law, Introduction to Land Law, Public Law II: Human Rights Proceedings, Global Governance, Great Power Politics, Optional Placement (optional).

Year 3:
African Politics, Criminal Law, European Union Law, Gender, Power and Politics, Law Project, Human Rights & Equality.

We'll assess you with a mix of coursework and exams. Coursework can include essays, a reflective diary, oral presentations, practical exercises and answering hypothetical problem questions.

Assessment is designed to enable us to see how you manage in a variety of situations that reflect the real world of work rather than simply focusing on traditional unseen exams. Throughout the course, you'll be given plenty of feedback to support you in your studies.
