Our BSc Financial Management degree will equip you with the analytical, strategic and practical skills required to thrive in the dynamic world of finance and management. Designed for those aspiring to careers in the private, public or non-profit sector, this programme blends rigorous academic finance theory with real-world application.

Throughout this degree, you will develop a deep understanding of financial and management principles to meet the challenges of an ever-evolving global landscape. Core modules introduce key concepts in financial and management accounting, corporate finance and a range of key management subjects, while advanced topics will explore international finance, risk and asset management alongside a selection of critical management disciplines. Throughout your studies, you will gain proficiency in quantitative techniques and management theories widely used in the industry and explore the impact of financial decisions on society, the environment and corporations. Our programme emphasises employability and hands-on experience. You will engage in case studies, simulations, and group projects that mirror real financial scenarios. In Year 1, you will typically study areas including: Foundations of Financial Accounting; Analytical and Digital Skills; The Economy and Society; Business Law and Professional Ethics; Foundations of Management Accounting; Financial Markets and Systems.

In Year 2, you will typically study areas including: Management Accounting for Decision Making; Corporate Reporting; Corporate Finance; Financial Markets and Institutions; Change and Crisis Management; Enterprise in Action; Resilient Supply Chain Management; Exploring Data.

In Year 3: Year spent in Industry.

In Year 4, you will typically study areas including: Strategic Management Accounting; Business Consultancy Project; International Financial Management; Innovation Management; Programming for Business; Advanced Corporate Finance; Business Intelligence.

GCSE Grade C or 4 in Mathematics and English or Welsh (first language) is required.

All applications are considered on an individual basis, with GCSE grades, AS Level subjects and grades, work experience, references and personal statement taken into account. Variable offers are made dependent on subjects studied.

English language requirements

For applicants whose first language is not English we require a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) and no less than 5.5 in each component.
