Actuaries help organisations plan for the future, managing uncertainty and making decisions based on risk. On this degree, you will learn how to use mathematics, probability and statistics to model real-world events and support decision-making across finance and insurance.
You will combine core mathematics with key topics from economics, finance and actuarial science, building a strong understanding of how quantitative methods are applied in practice. From analysing risk to creating predictive models, you will develop the skills to tackle complex challenges.
Your learning is shaped by experts in statistical modelling and actuarial mathematics, giving you insight into current industry practices. By the time you graduate, you will be prepared for a career as an actuary or for a wide range of roles that require advanced analytical skills.

This degree is accredited by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), with the opportunity to gain exemptions from core professional exams.
Graduates are well prepared for actuarial careers or roles across the financial services sector. Within 15 months of graduating, alumni earn an average salary of £36,700, with over 97% in employment or further study (Graduate Outcomes 2022 to 2023, published 2025).
In year one you’ll receive a thorough grounding in algebra, analysis and probability and statistics, as well as micro and macro-economics.
In your second year you will explore actuarial science in more depth.
The final year includes a group project and an individual project. Optional modules are available in the second and third years.
