This Master’s degree is designed for experienced practitioners, supervisors, and managers in Health and Social Care who are ready to take their leadership to the next level. The course offers an in-depth exploration of leadership practice, underpinned by the latest scholarly research and a critical awareness of current issues and developments in the sector.
You will be encouraged to develop advanced self-reflection and self-management skills, learning to grow through reflective practice and real-world experience. The programme also provides the opportunity to undertake a research project directly relevant to your professional context, allowing you to apply your learning to real challenges in the field.
Throughout your studies, you will explore diverse perspectives, enhance your self-awareness, and discover new approaches to complex situations. The course is designed to strengthen your ability to implement effective practice and achieve better outcomes for individuals and communities. By deepening your understanding of both yourself and the theoretical foundations of leadership, you will be well-equipped to manage the complexities of modern Health and Social Care and to inspire positive change in your organisation.
A variety of assessments will be used, including presentation, observation, relationship building and research skills, ICT, critical thinking and analysis, all of which are designed to enhance professional skills. We would expect students to make an early and significant contribution to improvement within their workplace.
You will need to have obtained or be predicted to obtain, normally an undergraduate honours degree in a Humanities or Social Science related subject (or equivalent).
In addition, all students will need to pay £57.20 for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure Barring Service. A successful Enhanced Disclosure is required before commencing the course.
