Course overview:

The MA Global Financial Journalism is a unique master’s, where you will develop your skills as a multimedia journalist, telling stories about business, finance and the economy, across a variety of platforms. Not only will we equip you with Journalism skills and training but also with the specialist knowledge needed, so you can hold the powerful to account by following the money and looking beyond the numbers.

As well as developing practical expertise in reporting and writing for digital and print publications, you will gain experience in producing audio and visual journalism as well as handling data and investigations.

London is a global financial hub – providing you with a truly immersive setting to learn the fundamentals of financial journalism, from leading industry figures.

The Marjorie Deane Foundations generously help fund study trips to major international financial centres such as New York, Shanghai and Singapore, also bring learning to life, and offer experiences which help you stand out from the crowd.

Financial journalism offers the highest salaries in the sector, and graduates go on to enjoy varied careers – from breaking important stories on global finance with the Financial Times, to conducting in-depth investigations for Bloomberg, or writing about consumer affairs for a wide range of news organisations.

Who is this for?

Due to its structure and content, the MA Global Financial Journalism is suitable for those with or without much prior experience in journalism. You may have no background in finance but wish to specialise and discover great stories. Or you may have experience in finance and economics and want to learn how to be a successful journalist. This programme is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis, enabling you to study around existing commitments and/or employment.

Whether you are looking to start your career or continue your professional development, you will gain all the knowledge, practical skills and insight needed for your next step.
