You will engage with branding, design and advertising industry professionals through live briefs, studio visits, portfolio reviews, workshops and mentorship. In the past few years, students have collaborated with global brands including Sky, Innocent and Kopparberg, as well as leading agencies such as Uncommon, DNCO, Neverland, Accept & Proceed and JKR.

Integrated Foundation Year
With the Integrated Foundation Year on this course, you will be first introduced to the fundamental principles of design. Your foundation year gives you the time, space and support to explore your strengths, build confidence and prepare for the demands of project-based, industry-focused learning. Modules are as follows:

Module 1: Diagnostic exploration - making informed choices
Module 2: Technical - Technical knowledge in practice
Module 3: Specialist - Innovating specialist practice
Module 4: Integration - Integrated practice for progression to Higher Education

After you have completed your Integrated Foundation Year, you will study the following:

Year 1
Year 1 introduces you to the world of branding and advertising, developing the core strategic, creative, and technical skills that underpin the industry. You'll be introduced to historical contexts, emerging practice, core principles, concepts, and practices that underpin contemporary brand communication, while gaining confidence in generating ideas and solving problems.

Modules may include:

Year 2
In your second year, you'll explore and challenge industry conventions, collaborating with students across the Department of Design Practice. You'll choose from modules focusing on audience interaction & behaviours, emerging technologies, content creation & storytelling, digital and physical interactions, and immersive brand building.

With support from Ravensbourne's careers team, you'll also have the chance to secure a work-based learning opportunity. Previous industry partners include Sky, Barclays, JKR, Concept Kicks, Uncommon Creative Studio, and more.

Year 3
In your final year you will deepen your focus on your chosen area within branding and advertising, creating ambitious, purpose-led projects that demonstrate your creative strengths and strategic thinking. Alongside a self-defined project, industry collaborations and global competition briefs, you'll build a professional portfolio for a career in the branding and advertising industries.

Modules may include:

Assessment method

You will be continually assessed through various methods including portfolio submissions, written and practical assignments, peer review, and presentations to industry professionals. Each module has a Formative and a Summative assessment point, where feedback and advice are provided to develop and complete projects and a final grade is awarded.
