Bioveterinary Science with Integrated Master’s with Foundation Year

Boost your employability with our four-year, research-led Bioveterinary Science with Integrated Master’s. Positioned at the cutting edge of animal health, disease and veterinary diagnostics, you’ll develop the advanced problem-solving, communication, professional and research skills suited for a PhD or a career in an academic or industrial research environment.

Why choose this course?

  • Design and conduct an in-depth extended research project including formulating a complete research strategy and producing a grant proposal

  • Graduate with a master's-level qualification

  • Benefit from a wide range of final-year research project opportunities aligned with current challenges in bioveterinary and animal health sciences

  • Enhance your employability with advanced research, problem-solving and communication skills

  • Our student research conference provides opportunities to present research findings in a realistic scientific conference setting

Our Bioveterinary Science with Integrated Master’s focuses on research and development in bioveterinary science within a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment. Building on foundational knowledge in animal physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, and molecular and cellular biology, you will develop a critical understanding of the biological principles underpinning health and disease across a range of animal species, including livestock, companion animals, wildlife, birds, and display animals.

Studying infectious and non-infectious diseases that are important in animal and public health, the course explains what causes these diseases, how they affect the body, and how they are diagnosed, monitored, treated, and prevented. You will evaluate advanced, modern veterinary diagnostic methods, including lab testing, disease surveillance, and new technologies, in clinical, research, and regulatory settings. Broader themes including animal nutrition, welfare, and behaviour are also explored, highlighting the role of bioveterinary science in food security, sustainability, and responsible animal management.
