Course summary

Our Procurement and Supply Chain Management MSc builds upon our world-renowned Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc. This purchasing postgraduate course has been co-designed with senior procurement and supply chain professionals. It will provide you with the specialist knowledge and skills in procurement and supply chain management that you need to further your career in this sector. It shares course content, including modules and other course activities, with our world-renowned Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc course.

  • You will gain an in-depth understanding of: supply chain strategy and sustainability; procurement strategy; supplier selection and evaluation; negotiation and contract management; how to analyse and design effective supply chain operations; how to use data, models and software to solve problems and inform decisions; inventory and operations management; accounting; freight transport and project management.

  • You will have the opportunity to attend a study tour and experience a supply chain perspective in a different economic region in Europe.

  • You will also have the opportunity to participate in other course activities including warehouse visits and simulation games.

  • You will have the opportunity to study within a truly international environment, with students and academics coming from over 50 countries.

Modules

Core modules: supply chain strategy and sustainability; principles of strategic procurement; inventory and operations management; accounting and finance; analytical techniques for supply chain management; information systems and ebusiness; freight transport; supplier selection and evaluation; negotiation and contract management; project management introduction. Electives: logistics outsourcing; performance measurement in the supply chain; business process outsourcing; designing and managing resilient supply chains; simulation; retail logistics; six sigma; sales and operations planning; humanitarian logistics; social network analysis in a supply chain context; planning and resourcing for road freight transport.

Assessment method

Taught modules 60%, individual project 40%

Entry requirements

A first or second class UK Honours degree (or equivalent) ideally in a related subject. Other recognised professional qualifications or several years relevant industrial experience may be accepted as equivalent; subject to approval by the Course Director.
