Within this popular and well-established degree, students undertake a comprehensive study of the law and combine this with the study of crime, social order and social control that is central to the study of Criminology. Law modules are designed with three basic aims: to provide a sound basic legal education, to cater for the teaching of law in its social, economic and political context. Criminology tackles questions such as: What is crime? How are laws enforced? Why is crime concentrated in particular areas? How do you judge and evaluate evidence? How can crime be prevented? Through class discussions and independent study, we explore both theoretical and practical perspectives of law and crime.
