Do you want to understand how children learn, develop, and thrive, and how psychology can improve educational experiences?

The BSc (Hons) Psychology (with Education and Child Development Perspectives) combines a strong foundation in psychological science with opportunities to explore learning, development, wellbeing, and education across childhood and adolescence.

Accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), our Psychology (with Education and Childhood Perspectives degree develops your understanding of the biological, cognitive, developmental, social, and individual differences perspectives that underpin contemporary psychology, preparing you for a range of careers and postgraduate study.

Through our Education and Child Development Perspectives programme, you'll examine topics such as child and adolescent development, learning and motivation, neurodiversity, inclusion, relationships, wellbeing, and the psychological factors that influence developmental and educational outcomes.

You'll benefit from research-informed teaching delivered by experienced psychologists, alongside opportunities to explore contemporary issues, including evidence-based educational interventions, inclusion, equality, diversity, and psychology’s role in promoting social justice in education and child development. You'll develop valuable quantitative and qualitative research skills through specialist training and complete applied assessments that reflect real-world psychological practice, enhancing your employability. Supported by dedicated psychology facilities, specialist software, personal tutoring, and career development, you'll also engage with guest speakers, and employer events, building the professional skills, critical thinking, and ethical awareness valued by employers.

Graduates of the BSc (Hons) Psychology (with Education and Child Development Perspectives) will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attributes required for a wide range of graduate careers within and beyond psychology.  Successful completion of the programme provides eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society, which is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

Recommended and required reading lists will be provided at the start of your course. All the books and e-books are available from our Library to borrow but you may choose to purchase your own.

You'll need to include placement/s travel and associated costs too, however the University will contribute a standard amount towards your total expenditure.
