Course summary

Transform your career with a postgraduate qualification in Acting at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Designed to advance your practical and professional progress, our Master's level Acting course provides intense training from tutors with extensive industry experience.

You will be taught to maintain a high standard of skill and knowledge and how to transform into an independently-minded performer and practitioner. We will enhance your ability to reflect and analyse, through a range of concepts and ideas. You will enhance your technical skills through practice-based study, learning and developing flexibility to confront issues that you may experience within your profession.

Your studies will help to influence and shape your career; previous graduates have been commended by industry for their innovative, challenging project work. Our acting and performances courses have recently been ranked as 3rd in the UK by the Guardian University league table 2019 (drama and dance category).

This course is based the School of Acting at Ruskin Hall in Bournville.

The main deadline date for our Acting courses is 14 January 2026, 18:00 (UK time) - please note that applications submitted after the main deadline date will still be considered for the 2026 intake.

Principal study options

During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:

Main specialism

Only one specialism is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.

Instrument/specialisms

For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.
