Course summary

Get the latest knowledge and understanding of the threats associated with the use of technology in business and how best to deal with them. As the number of sophisticated cyber attacks increase across the world, so too does the demand for graduates with the necessary skills and expertise to support an organisations ability to protect themselves against security threats and digital incursion.

Accredited by Government Communications Head Quarters (GCHQ), the MSc Applied Cyber Security will equip you with the latest knowledge and understanding of the threats associated with the use of technology in business and how best to deal with them. You will cover both the technical and management/governance areas required to operate in the cyber security profession, allowing you to develop a range of key transferable skills valued by employers in both the public and private sectors. You will also benefit from being taught by staff who are at the forefront of their subject area.

This Applied Cyber Security course is based at our Newport City campus, at our award winning National Cyber Security Academy. We are delighted to have won Cyber University of the year for three years running and were awarded Gold as an Academic Centre of Excellence by the NCSC.

How to apply

Entry requirements

This course is designed for graduates with a minimum 2:2 Honours degree or equivalent. Entrants should normally be graduates in a computing or related area and have very good IT skills.

Additional fee information

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the University’s library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed on the University website (on individual course pages). Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. All stationery and printing costs are at a student’s own expense.
