Course summary

Technology is reshaping agriculture - driving innovation, improving sustainability, and building more resilient food systems across the world.

Through studying Applied Agricultural Technology, you’ll explore how cutting-edge tools like precision farming, automation, robotics and data analytics are transforming the way we grow crops, manage livestock and protect our natural resources. You’ll build a deep understanding of how technology supports smarter decision-making, helping farmers adapt to climate change, market demands and evolving global challenges.

Alongside developing your technical expertise, you’ll examine the wider context, considering the environmental, ethical and economic impacts of agricultural technology, and exploring its role in creating a more sustainable future for farming.

Your learning will be hands-on from the start. On campus, you’ll work with industry-standard machinery, smart farming systems and specialist software across our commercial farm, research facilities and technology hubs — applying your knowledge to real-world agricultural practice.

By the time you graduate, you won’t just be familiar with the tools shaping modern farming — you’ll have the skills, experience and insight to help lead its future.
