If you’re passionate about inspiring young minds and shaping the future, our three-year Primary Education degree at Lincoln Bishop University is your gateway to a rewarding career as a primary school teacher. This vocational honours course leads directly to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), blending academic study with hands-on experience to prepare you for the classroom from day one.

After completing your Foundation Year, you’ll benefit from 120 days of school-based placement, gaining hands-on experience in real-world settings. Alongside, you’ll explore the theories, values, and research that underpin outstanding teaching, guided by passionate tutors and supportive mentors. Assessment method

Assessment in our Primary Education course is designed to celebrate your individuality and support your growth as a future teacher. You’ll experience a mix of approaches, including presentations, essays, assessed tutorials, group discussions, and a research report. Each assessment is carefully chosen to help you practise essential teaching skills, connect theory to real-world practice, and showcase your progress towards Qualified Teacher Status.

Throughout your journey, you’ll have opportunities to reflect on your development, receive supportive feedback, and build the confidence you need to thrive in the classroom.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Entry requirements

Application for this course is via UCAS, although there is no formal requirement for UCAS points to access the course (however, normally GSCE English or equivalent is desirable). Once the Admissions Team have assessed your application, we may contact you for further information and in some scenarios an academic interview may be required to assess your suitability for the course.
Different degree subjects may have specific entry requirements to allow you to progress from the Foundation Year. Whilst not a condition of entry onto the Foundation Year, you will need to have met these by the time you complete the first year of this four year course.
The Foundation Year syllabus does not include any specific element of upskilling in English language and you are not entitled to apply for Accredited Prior Learning, RPL into a Foundation Year.
