Studying Musical Theatre

Singing Technique

Musical Theatre Live Performance

Advanced Musical Theatre Technique – Acting Through Song & Screen

Enhance your acting and vocal abilities with a deeper dive into Acting Through Song (ATS). You’ll refine your vocal technique, develop character work, and learn how to apply acting methods to both stage and screen. This module focuses on performance versatility, helping you master everything from musical theatre accents to emotionally-driven song interpretation. Perfect for students wanting to elevate their performance craft and expand their casting potential.

Musical Theatre Dance Technique 2 –

Take your musical theatre dance training to the next level! This module develops your ability to accurately perform a wide range of musical theatre dance styles, from jazz to lyrical and beyond. You’ll focus on choreography, technique, characterisation and storytelling through movement, gaining the skills and confidence to shine as a triple threat performer.

Musical Theatre Staged Performance

Step into the world of full-scale musical theatre production. This practical module gives you hands-on experience developing and staging both traditional and contemporary musicals. From audition to curtain call, you’ll rehearse, perform, and reflect on your work while building vital collaboration and communication skills. This is your chance to gain real-world musical theatre performance experience and grow your confidence on stage.

Course Modules - Level 6

Module 1 - Musical Theatre Major Performance

Bring your skills centre stage in a full-scale live musical theatre production. You’ll collaborate as part of a performance company to explore, rehearse, and stage a complete show—developing original concepts, refining your technique, and delivering a polished performance to a live audience. This is your opportunity to showcase your creative voice and graduate with professional-level experience.

Module 2 - Musical Theatre Performance Showcase

Craft your professional performer showcase with confidence. In this module, you’ll select material that highlights your unique strengths across singing, acting, and dance, and present it in a professional setting. With support and feedback, you’ll refine your performance and build a showcase designed to help launch your musical theatre career.

Module 3 - Promotional Portfolio

Prepare to launch your dance career with a comprehensive promotional portfolio. You’ll learn how to market yourself professionally through showreels, websites, digital branding, CV writing, and promotional materials. Industry insight sessions and career planning workshops will help you identify your target audience and employment sector while giving you the tools to present yourself confidently to agents, employers, casting directors, and producers across the musical theatre and creative industries.

Module 4 - Industry Investigation

Take control of your learning by researching a topic that reflects your personal interests and future career goals within the creative industries. You’ll explore an area of contemporary debate, emerging trend, or professional issue in depth—applying research skills, critical analysis, and academic writing techniques to create a fully developed research project. This independent investigation allows you to showcase your intellectual curiosity and professional insight alongside your performance training.

A Pass in an Access to HE Diploma in a subject relevant to the course you wish to study at LMA

Normally all applicants are required to have achieved a minimum of 4 GCSE's or equivalent at Grade 4 or above. This should include GCSE English Language or English Literature at Grade 4.

LMA are happy to accept a wide range of qualifications, including but not limited to: A Levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma, BTEC Subsidiary Diploma(s), Access to HE courses, Scottish Highers, IB Diploma Programme, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, RSL Level 3 Diploma and T Levels.
We also welcome students who have a combination of qualifications - e.g. 2 A Levels and 1 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma and an extended project.
Our academic entry criteria from qualifications you are currently taking is 96 UCAS tariff points and your offer will be tailored to reflect this.

Additional entry requirements

As part of the application and admissions process for this LMA course, all applicants will be required to submit a digital audition.
