Motorsport Management and Logistics (Top-up)

This course is delivered at University Centre Myerscough and awarded by the University of Lancashire.

The motorsports industry is centred on the United Kingdom and employers in the industry require highly capable, motivated staff who can contribute to the success of their teams in all areas. A degree in Motorsport Management and Logistics provides the ideal platform for those who wish to progress within the industry.

This course is designed as a progression route for those students who have completed a Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma in a relevant subject area. It focuses on developing further an understanding of the motorsport industry and how businesses/organisations function within the industry. The knowledge provided by this course provides a basis for progression to graduate schemes in the top teams in the sport, or to work directly in the industry in management or operational roles.

Contemporary Issues in Motorsport

This module will enable students to critically evaluate a range of current issues that are likely to have a major influence on the structure and development of the industry over the next few years.

Logistics and Supply Chain Management

This module will enable the student to critically analyse and evaluate supply chain management and logistics, including the systems developed and those evolving in the development of product supply and storage, and the application of supply chain management within the differing facets of the motorsport sector.

Professional Practice and Quality Standards

The motorsport industry is a highly disciplined professional environment. This module develops the skills and practices for working in the industry and on events. The student will gain an understanding of professionalism and the quality standards expected by the industry for best practice. This module aims to provide a quantitative value in the role of Quality Assurance and TQM (Total Quality Management) as a tool to improve product quality and management responsibilities within an organisation or business.

Strategic Management

This module aims to provide the strategic management skills required within a company, to allow it to be competitive and to maintain credibility within this sector. This basis of this module applies to any industry and would be a useful asset to any employer.

Dissertation (Double Module)

The project will be sourced from industry to improve overall efficiency and function of a machine, competition car or aspect of business. It is intended that each individual uses this project as the vehicle for acquiring knowledge and experience under the philosophy of Action Learning thereby facing and addressing real challenges.

Students will face a variety of assessments including formative and summative assessment, essays, technical reports, individual presentations, individual study projects and case studies based on work experience.
