Course summary

This course is taught from our CU Coventry location.

Plan campaigns, shape brand stories and connect with audiences across marketing, PR and digital media.

Marketing and public relations shape how organisations build trust, manage reputation and communicate with audiences in a fast-changing world.

If you are interested in creativity, communication and audience behaviour, this course gives you the opportunity to explore how organisations plan campaigns, develop brand identity and respond to public expectations across marketing, PR and digital media.

You’ll study the principles and practices behind professional communication, from marketing strategy and public relations planning to digital analytics, media relations, reputation management, ethical practice and international campaigns. The course also considers how social, cultural and technological change, including the use of AI-enabled tools, is influencing how messages are created, targeted and evaluated.

Through applied tasks, case studies and project work, you’ll be encouraged to develop critical thinking, communication, research, planning and creative problem-solving skills. This can help you build a broad foundation for communications-related roles across agencies, in-house teams, public bodies, charities, start-ups and global organisations.

Develop future-ready marketing and PR skills

Explore how marketing and PR work side by side across campaigns, communication, brand reputation and audience engagement, helping you build a broader skill set for communications-related roles.

Study entrepreneurial and ethical marketing, innovation in PR and sustainable thinking, helping you generate ideas, think creatively and understand the responsibilities involved in influencing audiences and building brands.

Contextual admissions

Universities and colleges consider more than grades when assessing applications and may make offers based on a range of criteria. Learn more about contextual offers.

Grades alone don’t tell us everything about your potential and your story. We use information from your application to assess achievements in your personal situation to support fair and equal access. For example, we consider where you live, your school, if you are a carer or a care leaver or have experienced disruption to your education.
We have different schemes that recognise this context that may result in a reduced offer by up to 24 UCAS points or equivalent.
