Course summary

This course offers senior managers and advanced practitioners the opportunity to develop their academic and research skills, through a programme of study which is both grounded in and applied to professional health and social care practice. It provides the platform, opportunity and context for you to make change happen in health and social care.

The programme is aimed at developing the skills of current and future leaders in health and social care and will be attractive to individuals who are working as senior advisors and managers, advanced practitioners, independent specialists and consultants.

Running over five years, this inter-professional and multi-disciplinary programme combines facilitated modules and independent research. All coursework will draw on professional expertise grounded within professional practice. Students will study six facilitated modules during years one and two of the programme, followed by an Independent Research Project (duration of this is approximately three years depending on the nature of the research).

Assessment method

Practice related research activities (audit or evaluation) and Doctoral Research Thesis.

Entry requirements

Students should have successfully completed 180 credits at level 7 (e.g. Masters Degree).
