Combine numeracy with detailed subject knowledge and initiative to solve complex engineering problems that improve the world we live in.
Our course teaches you how to use physical science, mathematics and computing to assess engineering systems. You'll combine this with creative innovation, and a focus on design and business to help give you the well-rounded set of skills professional engineers need.
At Bath, we take pride in playing a part in developing our students to not only fulfil their potential but also to prepare them for the challenges engineers face in the world beyond university. With this in mind, our course complements your engineering knowledge with transferable skills like complex problem solving and critical thinking. And it allows you to reflect on wider issues that impact engineering such as ethics, sustainability and environmental awareness.
All our mechanical engineering courses have the same structure in the first two years of study so you can move between any of our BEng and MEng courses up to the end of your second year.
Practical project work is central to your study experience. In your final year, you'll get the chance to put theory into practice with a semester-long, full-time individual projects. You can also join one of our teams to take part in international competitions such as Formula Student or the Shell Eco Marathon.
We are invested in helping you get the most out of your learning experience. You’ll learn from academics with expertise in mechanical engineering and established links with industry. They have knowledge in design, manufacture, biomechanics, materials, automotive and aerospace. Their international collaborations and research activities feed into undergraduate teaching and contribute to your learning experience.

Admissions teams consider various factors, including interviews, subject requirements, and entrance tests. Check all course entry requirements for eligibility.
We are unable to show previous accepted grades for this course. This could be because the course is new, it's a postgraduate course, there isn't enough historical data, or the provider has opted out of sharing their entry grades data for this course - learn more.
This report uses your grades to show how students with similar results have done when applying to this course in the past. Sometimes, there isn’t data for every possible set of grades. When that happens, universities and colleges occasionally fill in the gaps for sets of grades that are typically accepted.
