If you work or wish to work in the diverse field of Community Health and Wellbeing must be able to meet the person-centred, holistic care needs of the people they encounter in their practice. Individuals accessing services may be at any stage of life and may have a range of mental, physical, cognitive or behavioural health challenges.
This course aims to provide you with the essential values, knowledge, and skills relevant to employment in this sector.
You will explore contemporary issues, evolving trends, and challenges, with a focus on enhancing service quality, including psychological and social aspects of health and illness, key debates and dilemmas in health and social care, and topics related to mental health and wellbeing.
This course will provide opportunities:
to progress to the next level of study: 1 year to convert your Diploma to a BSc (Hons) Care, Wellbeing and Health.
to gain employment in Alternative Therapeutic Practices, Voluntary Sector Project Management, Domiciliary Care, Residential Care, Assisted Independent Living, Probationary work, the Police Force, and Youth Work.
The course content includes: Impact of an Ageing Population, Care Practice, Research in the Wider Health and Social Care Arena, Advocacy, Current Issues (Community Care) and Integrated Care Systems (Adult & Youth).

The programme will include lectures, tutorials and a substantial work placement. You will usually have to complete portfolios, oral and poster presentations and written assignments as you progress through the programme.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in pursuing a career within the community care sector and also welcomes mature learners with or without experience of working within the field of H&SC. We aim to reflect the multidisciplinary approach required in this sector and actively seek prospective students from varied employment/academic backgrounds.
To be eligible for entry onto this course, students must have achieved 120 Credits at Level 4 and 210 Workplace Practice hours.
