Develop the knowledge, expertise, and attitude to begin your career as a registered nurse. You'll learn to lead and coordinate care on this nursing degree.

Immerse yourself in physically, intellectually, and emotionally challenging study. This adult nursing course will prepare you for an extremely rewarding career in numerous healthcare settings, from hospitals to community health practices.

As part of this nursing degree, you'll:

  • Have access to diverse placement opportunities, including Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Leeds Community Healthcare Trust, within secondary and regional care units, community teams, and GP practices

  • Spend 50% of your time on practice placements

  • Develop the practical skills needed to care for adults with acute and long-term illnesses across a variety of settings

  • Focus on areas of personal interest within healthcare during the volunteering strand of the course

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 112 points

A minimum of 72 points from two A levels or equivalent, excluding General Studies.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE English Language, Maths and Science at Grade 4 or above (Grade C for GCSEs taken before 2017) or equivalent. Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy and Adult Numeracy are accepted in place of GCSEs. Please note the GCSE science requirement can also be met through a range of level 3 science qualifications including A levels, BTEC and Access to HE Diplomas.

Interview
We conduct interviews as part of the admissions process and suitable applicants will be invited to an interview - interview dates will be published in due course. Invitations are sent via UCAS and you should check your UCAS Hub account for further interview details.
Other
Students will be recruited on the basis that their values align with those of the NHS Constitution, as well as having the right skills and aptitude, in accordance with Value Based Recruitment (Health Education England, Value Based Recruitment Framework, October 2014) and if selected will need to attend an interview. Your UCAS personal statement should include: 1. How you have researched the profession of adult health nursing. 2. Any experience you have of engaging with vulnerable people or working within settings such as hospitals or nursing homes. 3. How you have gained insight into the course e.g. Open days, reading through materials on course webpages or speaking to nurses. 4. Your personal qualities which you feel are related to nursing, including what motivates you to choose nursing as a career. 5. You must also be able to demonstrate how you meet the NMC Key Competencies through the application process. In your personal statement you must provide examples of how you meet the basic skills required for nursing in numeracy, communications, physicality, relationships and IT skills. Practical Experience: Care experience in an adult health practice/clinical setting, such as an acute hospital or a nursing home is desirable but not a mandatory requirement. If you are unable to demonstrate this, you should have experience of engaging with vulnerable people.
