Our MSc Biomedical Engineering degree is an advanced engineering degree that embraces biology and medicine to solve medical and healthcare challenges facing society.
Biomedical Engineering aims to create devices and systems to improve health and wellbeing, for example technologies for diagnosing and treating medical conditions, systems for imaging or monitoring patients or assisting them in their daily living.
You'll learn the skills to develop new engineering solutions and
prepare to take on a leading role in developing future technologies and enabling patients, carers, healthcare practitioners and providers to improve and maintain health and wellbeing.
You can specialise in one of five pathways: musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, imaging, diagnostic systems, audiology.
Compulsory modules include: Introduction to Biomedical Engineering; Human Biology and Systems Physiology; Translational Medicine; MSc Research Project.
A wide range of optional modules are available, from manufacturing and materials to biologically-inspired robotics.
We also offer five pathways for those who wish to specialise: Musculoskeletal, Cardiovascular, Imaging, Diagnostic Systems, and Audiology

If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your English ability by meeting our Band C requirements: IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components. For information on other accepted English language tests, please see our website.
This course has a subject classification which requires students whose nationality is outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland to have an ATAS certificate, irrespective of country of residence at the point of application.

You'll need a 2.1 degree in mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics,
audiology, aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, engineering materials, mechatronics, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, chemical enginering or bioengineering (with strong engineering content)
