Unleash your creativity and develop your unique photographic voice with our BA (Hons) Photography with Lens-Based Practices degree. This hands-on course prepares you for a career in the diverse and exciting world of photography, combining technical mastery with creative exploration.

You’ll work across a wide range of genres and approaches, from traditional and experimental photography to moving image, digital media, and interdisciplinary practices. Through workshops, studio sessions, and live briefs, you’ll gain practical experience that mirrors professional industry standards. Alongside technical skills, you’ll develop critical thinking and entrepreneurial abilities, including self-promotion, networking, and business planning.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include:

  • A large Infinity Curve studio with professional flash systems.

  • A Black Studio with fixed RGB LED lighting and flexible backdrops.

  • Traditional darkrooms with enlargers and a dedicated developing suite.

  • A Mac suite fully equipped with Adobe Creative Cloud.

You’ll also have access to professional equipment, including full-frame mirrorless and DSLR cameras, specialist lenses, analogue cameras from 35mm to large-format, and remote sound recording gear, supported by experienced technical staff.

Collaboration is central to the course, with opportunities to work with students across music, theatre, and other creative disciplines. You’ll engage with live briefs, client-based projects, and external commissions, ensuring you graduate with a strong portfolio and the confidence to succeed in the creative industries.
