Most developers can write working code. Walbrook's MSc Computer Science with Software Engineering teaches you to think like a computer scientist – a skill that never goes out of date.
Software engineering remains one of the field's biggest skills shortages, after AI. This master's degree is perfect if you want to learn to design software that is robust and reliable. Whether you’re upskilling or pivoting to an entirely new-to-you field, you’ll develop the technical depth and professional judgement to be taken seriously on the teams where real engineering decisions get made.
You'll learn to apply computing principles to problems that don't yet exist, built on foundations that last. You'll also learn to ask the important questions: how should this system be structured, how do we know it's correct, and how will it cope when requirements change? You'll work through requirements, architecture and design, testing and quality, and the practices that turn individual code into dependable, maintainable systems. You'll also examine how machine learning and large language models are reshaping the development lifecycle, and how to evaluate AI-generated work with a critical, responsible eye.
Start any month from October 2026. Study full-time and graduate in as little as 1 year, or study part-time over 2 years, 100% online. Flex between full-time and part-time learning, with support when you need it.
