Taught by professionally qualified staff, including an international expert on Marx’s value theory, you will develop a strong understanding of the industry, and get opportunities to pursue valuable work experience in the real world.

You can engage with specific areas of finance that interest you, and explore both national and international markets to ensure a firm understanding of the global economy.

Solent is a place of study for students from all over the world. Learning with students from a wide range of different backgrounds, you’ll explore new points of view on contemporary discussions and debates, and get a feel for the international workplace.

The curriculum itself is based around practical advice and real life examples of working in the industry –helping prepare you for your future career, and keeping you up to date with the latest developments in this fast moving industry.

And you will also have the opportunity to undertake a year-long full-time work placement between the second and third years of your degree – getting first-hand experience in the world of work.

The optional one year, full-time work placement between years two and three will help you to relate your studies to the workplace and extend your network of contacts.

What does this course lead to?
Our graduates go on to become accountants, auditors, tax specialists, financial analysts, fund managers, business advisers and entrepreneurs. Recent graduates have found roles at Deloitte, Smith and Williamson, Estee Lauder and John Lewis, among others.

Assessment method

Most accounting modules are assessed through 50% coursework and 50% exams. Coursework assessments include written assessments, online testing, debate, oral presentations, poster presentation, and production of a video training package.

T Level - M

Merit (120 UCAS Tariff Points)

• Direct entry to years 2 (Level 5) or 3 (Level 6)

We welcome applications from students currently studying a Foundation Degree, DipHE, HNC, HND or modules of an undergraduate degree course at another university, who wish to enter directly into Years 2 or 3 of one of our undergraduate degree courses.

• Level 5 (year 2) entry

To directly enter the second year of this course you will need to show appropriate knowledge and experience. For example, you are an ideal candidate if you have 120 undergraduate credits at Level 4 or a CertHE in a related subject area.

• Level 6 (year 3) entry

To directly enter the third year of this course you need to show appropriate knowledge and experience. For example, you are an ideal candidate if you have 240 undergraduate credits (at Levels 4 and 5), a DipHE, Foundation Degree or HND in a related subject area.

English language requirements

Solent University can also accept the following English Language Test: Duolingo English Language Test 115 overall with a minimum of 95 in each component. This means that if you meet the Solent University language requirement to gain a place on the course, you may still have to meet additional requirements to be granted with a visa by the Home Office.
