Course summary

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way organisations solve problems, from healthcare and finance to autonomous systems and intelligent data analysis. This BSc with Foundation Year provides a supportive route into specialist AI study, helping you develop the programming, computing, mathematical and academic skills needed for degree-level study.

In your Foundation Year, you will study topics including Python programming, web development, computer fundamentals, discrete mathematics, study skills and a group software project. You will then progress to the BSc Artificial Intelligence, building strong foundations in mathematics, statistics, programming and software engineering before moving into machine learning, deep learning, computer vision and natural language processing.

You will learn through hands-on labs, practical projects and team-based work, applying AI techniques to real-world problems. Teaching is informed by the University’s AI research expertise, and the degree includes a substantial individual AI project, an optional placement year and the option to transfer to the MSci Artificial Intelligence.
