The Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation with Foundation Year degree at the University of Wolverhampton is designed to remain current, relevant, and relevant to the changing needs of the profession. Your Foundation Year content reflects current knowledge and practices in the subjects of Sports Coaching, Sports Exercise Science and Sports Therapy. Examples and case studies that relate to real-world and contemporary issues are used to contextualise course content. Learning materials, including readings, PowerPoint slides, and online resources, are regularly updated to ensure they align with current standards and expectations.
Course content is regularly updated to include the latest research, emerging theories, and current issues in sport, health, and rehabilitation. Module leaders actively incorporate the latest evidence and clinical guidelines, so that you are exposed to what is currently being used in professional practice.
You are encouraged to work closely with research throughout your studies. From early exposure to academic literature and critical appraisal tasks to final-year independent projects, your will build strong research and critical thinking skills. Staff are active in the field of research and clinical practice and bring their professional interests and experiences into teaching, allowing you to explore real-world applications. This helps apply theory to real-life situations giving relevance and context to the topic.
The course also prepares students to think creatively and critically about the wider challenges to society. Topics such as sustainability in sport, ethical behaviour, and inclusive practice delivery are woven into modules, encouraging you to consider your role in reducing barriers to good health and rehabilitation services, acting responsibly and ethically within your professional role. Case-based learning and scenario tasks prompt students to reflect on complex issues and propose innovative solutions.
Graduate Attributes are embedded across the curriculum. Students become Knowledgeable through evidence-based learning, Professional via placements and clinical simulations, Digitally Fluent through blended learning and digital assessment tools, and Global Citizens by exploring diverse health contexts and inclusive practices. These attributes are reinforced through reflective tasks, group work, and career-focused activities that prepare students for future employment or further study.
These skills are reinforced through shared learning opportunities with students from related programmes, such as Allied Health courses and Sport and Exercise Science. This fosters teamwork, broadens perspectives, and reflects how healthcare professionals collaborate in real settings. Lifelong learning is promoted through self-directed study, academic mentoring, and opportunities to attend research seminars and professional development events.
In short, the course is designed not only to keep pace with the field but to equip you with the mindset and skills to lead it forward. By combining academic rigour, practical relevance, and a future-focused ethos, the programme ensures graduates are ready to thrive in a dynamic and rewarding profession.
