Why CertHE in Working with Children, Young People and Families?
Our Certificate of Higher Education in Working with Children, Young People and Families could help open your way to a career providing early support to those in need. Designed to fit alongside your existing commitments, teaching on campus is one day per week with additional study required via simulations, online learning and placements, which will be equivalent to 2 days per week. You’ll explore human development and the impact of a variety of issues which can influence wellbeing. You’ll also learn about the process of assessment and intervention, safeguarding issues and have opportunities to explore the specifics of working with a specialised age group.
Drawing on the expertise of experienced practitioners in both classroom and placement settings, you’ll develop your abilities in planning, delivering, monitoring and evaluating a variety of suitable interventions based on the situation and evidence available. You’ll be supported to apply your learning in real-world situations and to reflect on your experiences in order to develop your skills and confidence. This ensures you’ll be well prepared for further study and a future professional role as an early help practitioner.
Those who successfully complete the course would be eligible to progress to level 5 BA Education, BA Early Childhood Studies and BSc Social work, if all entry criteria are met.
