Would you like to provide expert healthcare for children and young people? This BSc Honours in Nursing will give you the skills and experience you need to care for children and young people in their own homes, in the community, and in hospitals.
This Children's Nursing course will be approved against the Nursing and Midwifery Council Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses. These standards set out the knowledge and skills you as the next generation of children’s nurses will learn, to enable you to deliver world-class person-centred, evidence-based care.
With equal time spent on practice placement and in the classroom, you will graduate ready to find rewarding work as a paediatric nurse. You will also benefit from high-tech teaching resources, a dedicated tutor and highly experienced staff who will support you throughout your training.
Course detail & modules
Designed with input from students, service users and our partners in the NHS and voluntary and independent sectors, this Children's Nursing course will prepare you for current child nursing practice.
In accordance with the high standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, you will learn how to:
• provide, lead and coordinate care that is compassionate and evidence-based
• care for children in a range of healthcare settings
• promote health, protect health and prevent ill health
• care for people of different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs
• care for children with complex mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural care needs
• work across health- and social care services
• play a proactive role in multidisciplinary teams
• think critically and apply your knowledge and skills
• be emotionally intelligent and resilient, while managing your personal health and wellbeing.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include a simulation centre, virtual reality facilities and immersive rooms. These all play a major role in our approach to teaching and learning and are located at both our West London and Reading campuses.
Children’s Nursing placement partners
Your placement is an essential part of your course. It will give you practical experience to develop your knowledge and skills in a real-world setting.
