Course summary

MSc Accounting and Financial Management is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding of core accounting and finance principles.

The programme provides students with the opportunity to gain a clear understanding of the joint role of accounting and finance in ensuring successful operations in a range of business settings. Students can develop their understanding of the key principles and practical skills required to prepare and analyse accounts and related financial information, and learn about financial management decision making and the methods used to raise finance for companies.

MSc Accounting and Financial Management students will be exempted from CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accounting) papers BA1, BA2, BA3 and BA4, AIA (Association of International Accountants) Paper 1 and Paper 6 as well as ACCA F1, F2 and F3 papers.

I took a gap year before starting university in which I worked and travelled, whilst deciding what I wanted my future to look like! After university, I want to either train to be an accountant, or a teacher, possibly in maths, business or my degree area. I joined the University of Lincoln's Athletics society in September 2024, which has allowed me to make new friends, and take part in many social and competitive events. I ran my first 10k race in April 2025 with fellow society members! I live at home and commuted to campus during my first year. I either walked, drove or got the bus to university.
