Our BSc (Hons) Business Management with Finance degree is designed to develop the practical, future-focused skills and financial expertise needed to thrive in today’s competitive business landscape. This industry-aligned degree combines core business principles with in-depth financial knowledge, preparing you for dynamic roles across the finance sector and beyond.

This specialist finance pathway will enable you to build a strong foundation in business management while gaining targeted insights into financial strategy, markets, financial technology, investment, and corporate finance. You’ll graduate equipped to pursue roles in financial analysis, banking, accountancy, and business consultancy, or take your first steps towards professional qualifications.

You will explore financial language and theory, develop enquiry, analysis, evaluation and communication skills, and learn to offer practical, sustainable and ethical solutions to real-world problems in diverse and global business contexts.

The programme actively engages with the local community and collaborates with small and medium-sized enterprises such as Think Engine, Red Funnel Ferry, and Southern Co-Op. Through these partnerships you'll have opportunities to work on community-focused projects and initiatives, applying your skills in real-world settings. The collaboration also includes mentorship programmes, guest lectures, and joint projects, providing valuable insights and support to help you develop your skills and knowledge.

This course also offers the option of a placement year. A placement year allows you to put what you've learned in your first and second years into practice in the workplace, gaining valuable real-world work experience to enhance your employability before you graduate. Our course and placements teams will help you find the perfect industry placement in your chosen field.

Who is this course for?
Ideally suited to students who want to develop their financial literacy and management skills, the course gives you the tools to create value for society, the economy and yourself. You may not be sure yet which industry or organisation will suit you. You may work in financial services, in local or global business, or in a smaller entrepreneurial firm or start-up. You may even start your own business.

Whatever your aspiration, you know you have the potential to be an analytical, creative, problem solver with determination. On this exciting course you’ll gain valuable and applied finance and management skills, from interpersonal skills to capital trading to data analysis.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 48 points

A minimum of two completed A-levels, a BTEC Extended Diploma at PPP or BTEC Diploma at MP or equivalent. We will consider mature students who haven't recently undertaken a formalised course of study at A-level or equivalent, but who can demonstrate relevant workplace or voluntary experience, indicating their ability to complete the course successfully. We will also consider overseas applicants in an equivalent situation to UK students (as outlined above) and who have been taught in English or have IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. We welcome applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds. Applicants who are not in possession of the minimum entry requirements but are able to demonstrate aptitude, enthusiasm and motivation will be considered on an individual basis and may be admitted subject to satisfactory interview and/or portfolio.
