This course is designed to bridge academic excellence with industry relevance, leveraging our strong partnerships with leading AI organisations and technology providers such as Google DeepMind, Cisco and Switchshop. Through hands-on projects, you will work with real-world datasets and advanced tools, including frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch and OpenCV. You will also benefit from guest lectures, workshops and industry-led assessments, ensuring your learning is deeply rooted in current and future industry demands.

This course has been developed in close collaboration with industry. You also work on projects with industry collaborators such as Switchshop and L-Acoustics, providing first-hand experience of how the industry operates and allowing you to apply your skills in real-world contexts.

Natural language processing and generative AI – Explore cutting-edge AI approaches to understanding and generating human language, including transformer models, large language models and generative algorithms like GANs.

Applications for artificial intelligence – Apply advanced AI methods to solve real-world problems across domains such as healthcare, finance, robotics and intelligent automation.

Intelligent systems and data mining – Learn how to design intelligent agents and systems that learn from data, with emphasis on techniques like classification, clustering and evolutionary algorithms.

Research methodologies and project management – Develop the research skills and project-planning techniques required for successful AI system development and academic research, preparing you for your final project.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a UK honours degree or equivalent.

Applicants without a degree may be granted entry on the basis of their previous industrial work experience. Such work experience should be at least three years and applicants will be interviewed to verify suitability for the course.
