Crime, security and justice shape the world we live in, from the stories we consume to the systems that govern society. On this BSc Criminology degree, you will explore how crime and punishment evolve across different cultures and over time.

Here, you will question assumptions, examine evidence and understand the forces that influence criminal behaviour and justice systems. Your learning is shaped by the latest research, with insights from our Russell Group community feeding directly into your modules.

The department is based at Highfield Campus, our oldest and largest campus, close to Southampton Common. It is the centre of university life, where teaching, research and community come together, with social spaces, sports facilities and our Students’ Union all on your doorstep.

We normally consider applicants who offer at least 1 Advanced Higher. Applicants presenting with only Highers will be considered on a case by case basis. Where Highers are taken over two years it might be expected that higher grades are achieved, particularly in any specific subjects required. For example, S5 – S6 (2 years): AABBB (A in specific subject) or S6 (1 year): ABBBB (A in specific subject).
