International Banking and Finance Law (Taught)

Would you like to work as a legal expert in the finance sector? This international banking law degree will enhance your ability to work with a range of multinational corporations and international organisations.

Your studies will cover both legal and financial areas of expertise, giving you a well-rounded qualification. Furthermore, your tutors and lecturers have significant practical experience and good connections with industry.

Based in London, the global centre for banking, finance and trade, you will benefit from the excellent links that UWL has with major corporations as well as being close to the centre of legal administration and policy.

Our aim is to produce graduates who understand the legal regulations and constraints of international and national business, as well as the financial world of international trade agencies and multinational corporations.

You will cover topics including syndicated loans, bond issuances, derivatives markets and employment law. We will also compare jurisdictions outside of English courts, in the US, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The course also covers securities regulations, international banking law, international commercial arbitration and mediation law.

Your teaching staff are highly qualified and have current experience of international legal practice. Their expertise will inform your studies and help you to identify a relevant topic that supports your professional goals for your dissertation.

Furthermore, you will have access to an on-site courtroom with laptops and video equipment for judges/advocates, which is ideal for student mooting competitions. Our Student Law Society is highly active and will provide valuable networking opportunities, in addition to social events.

Teaching time

For full-time study, we normally teach three modules each week, over twelve hours of teaching time. In addition, you will complete a 15,000-word dissertation, which will be supported by a module dedicated to research methodologies and tools.
