Throughout your Illustration MA degree course, you will explore roles of illustration today and its wide-ranging professional applications moving forward.
You will experiment across narrative and storytelling methods that will enable you to present and reposition information in a strategic, accessible and engaging fashion.
You will examine complex knowledge, data and information and bring it to life with empathy, which will enable you to tell stories that need to be told and ensure that no message is lost in translation.
Join the new MA Illustration course in our new flagship building, The Institute for Creativity and Technology, where creative minds prosper. By taking on consultancy and organisational roles as well as developing your own illustration practice, this course is designed to make you truly industry ready.
The MA Illustration course leader, Dr Mireille Fauchon, is an illustrator, educator and researcher, while her illustration practice encompasses publishing for print, screen, installation, facilitation and critical writing.
After studying for your MA in Illustration, you will:
Have the confidence and experience to jump start your illustration business
Be able to identify the most effective narrative and storytelling strategies
Be able to take advantage of immersive illustration technologies
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
First or Second Class honours degree (or equivalent non-UK qualifications) in a relevant subject, or an equivalent professional qualification in a related subject area. If you are applying directly from an undergraduate degree course without experience or professional practice you must be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of your chosen subject area.
We welcome suitably qualified applicants who are able to demonstrate a good level of skills in areas associated with illustration.
To get a holistic view of your ability and aptitude to succeed on this course, we will also consider your enthusiasm and interest in the subject area, how you manage the creative process, and your study and professional skills. A PDF portfolio of visual work is required.
