Course summary

  • Study all aspects of human behaviour – how we learn, remember, co-ordinate our actions and interact with others.

  • Explore theories behind reasons for cognitive differences between individuals, the history of these theories and the work of their proponents.

  • Understand the biological bases for behaviour, memory, imagination, pain, emotion, perception, sense and everything in-between.

  • Learn how our understanding of the mind has been enhanced by neuropsychology and how study the relationship between cognition, the brain and the rest of the nervous system.

  • Become familiar with the history of social psychology and how thoughts, feelings and behaviour are influenced by environment

  • Get practical experience via a work placement.

  • Our BA in Psychology is BPS accredited, allowing you to continue your studies to become a professional psychologist.

  • Study the science of behaviour and the reasons for differences between individuals, across the lifespan, while studying Spanish with us will give you the chance to become a fluent linguist. With our year abroad programme, you'll have an opportunity to experience living, working and/or studying in another country.

This course is part of our flexible BA Humanities and Social Science Degree programme. With our BA (Honours) degree you can choose from subjects in Humanities, Social Sciences and Business, with two of your three subject choices taught by the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences.

The BA degree is a three year course and the Honours degree is normally a four year course. This allows you to try new subjects, develop your own ideas, develop a broad range of knowledge and enhance your employability.

You should only enter one of the UCAS codes on your application form. Acceptance on one of these subject codes will enable you to study any combination of subjects. Only one application will be considered. This is lifted from page 50 of the prospectus.
