It's more than just helping customers see and hear better by giving expert care. It’s about helping our colleagues see their potential that little bit clearer, every single day.

Here at Specsavers, you can really feel like you’re a part of something; like you make a difference to people’s lives with the expert eye and hearing care you provide. So we make sure you’re provided with everything you need to succeed in your healthcare role; that you have all the support you need to feel confident and have a place you can call home. Most jobs don’t give you the chance to change people’s lives. But, at Specsavers, you’ll be able to do this every single day. And that can make you feel pretty good. So, why not?

Changing lives, including yours

Thinking about a medical career? Take a look at this. Optometry is more than just glasses. It’s detecting and diagnosing abnormalities and diseases using the latest technology. It’s identifying problems with health – think high blood pressure and diabetes. It’s about changing and saving lives. Interested? If you are, you should see what we have on offer through our Bright Stars university scholarship below.

From my part-time job at Specsavers I have gained a valuable insight into the day-to-day life of an optometrist. This in turn has solidified my aspirations to get into the field. The bursary will make the optometry profession much more accessible to me.

We want to make a difference to people’s lives, including yours

Thinking of a career in healthcare? Optometry and audiology go beyond glasses and hearing aids. They use cutting-edge technology to detect health issues, improve lives, and even save them. Multiple training routes are available—apprenticeships, degrees, and postgrad options.

At Specsavers, our optometry and audiology teams make a real difference every single day. Whether it’s detecting eye conditions or helping someone hear clearly again, these careers are about more than glasses and hearing aids—they’re about changing people’s lives. Optometrists examine eyes, offer clinical advice, and diagnose conditions that can reveal wider health issues. Audiologists assess hearing, advise on care and protection, and fit hearing aids that reconnect people with the world around them. We offer exciting career routes for both professions. For optometry, our exclusive university scholarship supports STEM students with £10,000 over four years, plus paid part-time work in-store, clinical mentoring, and a place at our Bright Room event. You’ll need to apply for an optometry course and register your interest to be invited. For audiology, you can train via an apprenticeship, foundation degree, HE diploma (Scotland), undergraduate or postgraduate degree. Whichever path you choose, you’ll be supported every step of the way—and when you qualify, you’ll be ready to build a rewarding, long-lasting healthcare career with Specsavers.

Testimonials

Joining Specsavers was the best decision

I was supported to develop into the best optometrist. Upon qualifying in 2013, I sat down with my director to make a five-yeah plan and I furthered my Clinical Education and undertook independent prescribing training

I love working at Specsavers. Every day brings a new opportunity.

I’ve been supported to do a variety of roles including secondments to try something new, from HR to more specialist roles, building relationships with people all over the Specsavers globe.

It isn’t just a job

I believe it’s a real change to learn from brilliant professionals and build a solid foundation for my career where there a clear path of progression.
Specsavers supported me through my Hearing Aid Dispenser university course at Anglia Ruskin University. I loved that I left with no student debt, got paid, and still lived near the store I was working in. I really valued the support, as supervisors are on hand through the process, both in-store and Head Office.
