Henderson Bursaries and Scholarships

Scholarship information

If you apply to one of our selected full-time Computing, Engineering or Built Environment courses starting in September 2026 you could be eligible to receive a Henderson Scholarship worth £10,000 a year over three years, or a one-off Henderson Access Bursary of £2,000.

Generously funded by Birmingham City University graduate and Slack co-founder Cal Henderson and his wife Rebecca through the Henderson Family Foundation, these bursaries are for UK students pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computing, Engineering or Technology-related subjects.

Funding will be prioritised for under-represented groups and those from low socio-economic backgrounds.

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this funding, you must:

1. Secure a place on one of the following Computing, Engineering or Built Environment degree courses starting in September 2026, studying full-time.

  • Computer Networks and Security - BSc (Hons) 
  • Computer Science - BSc (Hons) 
  • Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence - BSc (Hons) 
  • Computing and Information Technology - BSc (Hons) 
  • Cyber Security - BSc (Hons) 
  • Game Design - BA (Hons) 
  • Game Art - BA (Hons) 
  • Game Programming - BSc (Hons) 
  • Game Technology - BSc (Hons) 
  • Sound Engineering - BSc (Hons) 

Engineering

Electrical and Electronic Engineering - BEng (Hons) 
Mechanical Engineering - BEng (Hons) 

Built Environment

Architectural Technology - BSc (Hons) 
Civil Engineering - BEng (Hons)
Construction Management - BSc (Hons)
Quantity Surveying - BSc (Hons)
Real Estate - BSc (Hons)

2. Be from a lower socio-economic background (i.e. from a lower income household of £25,000 or less and/or be eligible or have previously been eligible for free school meals), as well as from a priority under-represented group: female and/or ethnic minority.
