Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Exam

Scholarship information

Undergraduate international students from certain countries may be eligible to take the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Exam, offering up to £6,000 in tuition fee discounts. The exam gives students the chance to earn a scholarship based on their academic performance.

Eligibility:

  • Must be an international fee-paying student applying for the first year of an undergraduate bachelor’s degree at Aberystwyth University.
  • Must be ordinarily domiciled in one of the following countries:

Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom (international fee-paying), United States of America.

  • Exclusions: Applicants to Veterinary Science, Veterinary Nursing, and Nursing programmes are not eligible.

How to Apply / Exam Details:

  • To be considered, students must sit and pass two exam papers in subjects of their choice (approved by the relevant department).
  • Exams are held at your school, college, or an approved alternative invigilation centre.
  • It is your responsibility to select appropriate subjects. Choosing incorrect subjects may result in disqualification.

Scholarship Awards:

  • Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship: Top 20% of all successful candidates receive a £2,000 tuition fee discount per year for the duration of their undergraduate degree (up to £6,000 total). Eligible students may also receive an unconditional offer to study.
  • Vice-Chancellor’s Merit Award: Remaining 80% of successful candidates receive a £2,000 tuition fee discount in the first year only. Eligible students may also receive an unconditional offer to study.
