To apply for this scholarship you must submit your application on the scholarship provider's website by this date.
Generous donations from former students, including Mr Timothy J Newling, have allowed us to establish a fund to provide financial assistance to students studying the subject areas of earth and planetary sciences.
Students can receive support with costs of undergraduate field classes or an undergraduate fieldwork module:

Please note: Household income is defined as your annual gross income from the tax year ending in April 2025 and the annual gross income of your spouse or partner (if you are cohabiting) for the same period. The income limit is raised by £2000 if assessed on a joint income, and by £2000 for the first dependent child, and a further £1000 for each child thereafter. This does not include income from benefit payments, only from taxable earned income.
Value
Awards are based on the estimated costs as provided by the department organising the trip and will not necessarily cover your own costs in full.
Funding for independent fieldwork modules will be assessed on a case by case basis and will be subject to caps, so you may not receive the full amount of funding you have requested.
Deadline
The fund will remain open until 22nd May 2026, or until funds are exhausted.
