Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship

Scholarship information

We have a range of scholarships and discounts available to international students. You can apply for scholarships once you have received an offer from us.

You must be applying for a full-time degree. Applications for postgraduate research, online studies, foundation and pre-sessional language programmes are not eligible for a discount or scholarship. Read our full terms and conditions.

Eligibility Criteria: 

  1. You must be a self-funding Overseas fee paying student.
  2. Studying a full-time taught/MRes programme at a UK Derby Campus/Site.
  3. Starting your studies in January 2026, September 2026 or January 2027.
  4. You must successfully meet any conditions set for entry onto the programme. 

Terms, Conditions and Exclusions:  

  1. The Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship can be combined with the Full Payment Discount of £1,000 GBP if you meet the criteria for the full payment discount.
  2. The Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship is only for the first year of your studies.
  3. Accelerated programmes and PhD/MPhil Programmes are not eligible for the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship.
  4. Candidates who are fully sponsored by a third party will not be entitled to the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship.
  5. If a student meets the eligibility criteria, the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship will be stated on the CAS letter and deducted from the full tuition fee.
  6. If you are eligible for the Vice Chancellors’ Scholarship and the Alumni discount you will only be offered whichever holds the greater value.
  7.  If a student meets the eligibility criteria, the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship will be awarded automatically upon enrolment, no application is required.
  8. Students who qualify for other scholarships such as British Council GREAT Scholarship, Chevening and Commonwealth or any other government scholarship will not be eligible for the for the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship.
  9. If your circumstances change and you do not meet the eligibility criteria or the terms, conditions and exclusions set out, you will automatically become ineligible for the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship. 

 Please note that all students are required to comply with, and are bound by, the University’s Student Regulations and Procedures, including the Student Code of Conduct. If a student is removed from the course for failing to comply with the Student Regulations and Procedures, they may be required to pay the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship back in full.
