Merit Scholarships

As part of Bangor University's Entrance Scholarships scheme, there are approximately 20 Merit Scholarships of up to £3,000 available to those who excel in the University's annual Entrance Scholarships examinations.

To be considered for the Merit Scholarships, you will need to:

• complete an Entrance Scholarships application form, applications open on 8th October (closing date Friday, 30th January, 2026)
• sit an exam in the subject of your choice (with the exams being held at your school/college: Wednesday, 11th February, 2026).

Timeline

• Wednesday 8 October 2025:  Applications open for 2026 Entry Scholarships
• Friday 30 January 2026:  Applications close for 2026 Entry Scholarships
• From Monday 2 February 2026: Details of the examination arrangements will be sent to the Examination Officers at schools/colleges of candidates
• Wednesday 11 February 2026: Entrance Scholarship examination
• Wednesday 11 February to Friday 13 February 2026: Examination papers returned to Bangor University
• From Monday 16 February 2026: Examination papers marked by Bangor University
• March 2026: Candidates receive an email informing them whether or not they have been successful
• End of September 2026: Successful candidates who have registered for their course at Bangor are emailed to arrange scholarship payment
• November 2026: Scholarship payments made to successful candidates
