Crystal
Lancaster University
Mathematics and Statistics
Hi! I'm Crystal, a second-year MSci Computer Science and Mathematics student with a special interest in Data Science and ML.
When I started university, I wasn’t entirely sure about my future career path. However, through various opportunities at university, I’ve developed a strong passion for data science and I now feel much more confident about the direction I want to take in my career.
Often spotted around campus carrying badminton rackets because nothing beats badminton after a long day for stress-relief... On my off days I explore places nearby Lancaster, play games with my friends and try out new recipes. Whenever I get homesick, I make Malaysian chicken curry (and it's perfect for winter).
Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you have, whether it's about doing a joint degree, life at Lancaster, or even to talk about any data science/coding projects! I'm interested to hear what you think.
Deniz

Mathematics and Statistics
I studied BSc Mathematics and Economics at Lancaster University before I decided to do MSc statistics here as well. I specialised in Microeconomics and Statistics in my undergraduate degree and am now specialising in Medical Statistics. I hope to work as a statistician in the medical field once I have finished my masters.

I originally am from the south west, so have spent my time at UEA so far learning about Norwich and getting to know how to take care of myself! I have loved my time here, and have learnt alot about how to obtain support when I need to from the uni. My course is five years long, including a placement year and an integrated masters year, and I hope to do something in applied mathematics once I have completed it! I'm open to answer any questions you may have, so ask away!

Kimaro
University of Essex
Mathematics
My name is Kimaro Novat Kairuntu, a PhD student at the University of Essex in the UK. My educational background is a blend of economics and mathematics, with a Bachelor’s degree in these disciplines. I advanced my expertise by earning an MSc in Applied Mathematics, where I deepened my understanding of complex mathematical concepts and their real-world applications. Currently, my PhD research focuses on financial derivatives, a field that combines my passion for mathematical modeling with practical financial applications.
Looking ahead, my career plans involve advancing the intersection of applied mathematics and finance, particularly in financial derivatives. My educational journey and professional experiences have provided me with a strong foundation to contribute meaningfully to both academia and industry. I am eager to develop innovative research and practical solutions that address financial challenges.
My passion lies in the intricate domain of financial derivatives, where applied mathematics is essential for creating models that predict market behavior and manage financial risk. I am particularly drawn to how mathematical theories can be transformed into tools that enhance decision-making in the financial industry. This passion drives my research and fuels my ambition to bridge the gap between theoretical mathematics and practical finance.
Klara
Durham University
BSc Mathematics (G100)
Hi! My name is Klara and I am currently a Maths undergraduate at Durham University and I'm not yet set on my career aspirations, but I am fascinated by the wide applications of statistics. Both my secondary school and sixth form college were state schools, my college being the University of Liverpool Maths School (because that's how much I love maths), so I'm very passionate about Northern and state school representation at Durham university, so much so that my friends and I set up a Northern society in college.
