Student life
Aberystwyth offers an excellent environment in which students can find their independence away from home. It's also considered an affordable place to live, ranking among the Top 5 Cheapest Cities in the UK for Student Accommodation (Student Crowd 2025).
Our accommodation is located on or within easy walking distance of the campus, and we guarantee accommodation for all first-year students, which includes free membership to our Sports Centre.
The local area is the ideal place for those interested in outdoor activities or looking to explore new pursuits, with sandy beaches and internationally renowned National Parks on its doorstep. Students spend their spare time hiking, biking, surfing and sailing, or socialising in one of Aberystwyth’s many bars, restaurants and cafes.
Our Students’ Union offers sociable spaces to study and unwind. It’s home to over 100 clubs and societies, ranging from Anime to Debating, and the many sports clubs include Football, Rugby, Hiking, Sailing and Surfing.
Campus and facilities
Aberystwyth is a campus University, where students can find everything they need for a rewarding student experience within easy walking distance. The campus is home to University accommodation, teaching and studying facilities, lecture rooms and practical labs, the Students’ Union, Wales’s largest Arts Centre, a Sports Centre and several restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops.
The Sports Centre offers a range of facilities to support our student’s health and well-being, including a sports hall, dance studio, swimming pool, and climbing wall. The campus also boasts a brand-new sports dome home to state-of-the-art cardio equipment and strength and conditioning apparatus.
The Arts Centre is situated at the centre of the campus and is home to theatres, a cinema, cafes and galleries and hosts a range of shows, festivals, and exhibitions throughout the year.
Aberystwyth students also have the National Library of Wales on their doorstep, which is one of only five copyright libraries in the UK.
