Student life
Edinburgh Living
A vibrant nightlife, eclectic food scene, designer retailers and plenty of green space – Edinburgh has it all. It’s a safe and friendly city and a great place to be a student.
Edinburgh is the 2nd most student-friendly city in the UK (QS Best Student Cities 2024). It is home to the world’s largest arts festivals, like the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Edinburgh International Festival, as well as lots of free museums and art galleries.
If you need some time out, you can wander through the Meadows, climb Arthur’s Seat or head to the beach – Edinburgh is really near the coast and has its own beach just a short bus ride from the city centre.
Galashiels – home to a flourishing textiles industry
A historical market town with strong traditions and a vibrant cultural calendar, Galashiels was established in the nineteenth century to support the flourishing textiles industry.
This industry continues to thrive today, with nearby mills and industry partners, such as Johnstons of Elgin and Chanel-owned Barrie Knitwear, exporting luxury goods and fabrics around the world.
