University of Cambridge

Cambridge is a vibrant city that combines the welcoming feel of a small town with the variety and energy of a larger city. It's a great place to be a student, with students accounting for about a fifth of the city’s overall population.

There’s also loads going on within the University and Colleges, and hundreds of student clubs that you can join - a great opportunity to meet like-minded people or to try something new while you're here.

Cambridge is a ‘collegiate’ university. Rather than being campus-based, it is made up of:

• academic faculties and departments - where students attend lectures, seminars and practicals, and sit examinations etc.
• Colleges - where students live, socialise, attend small-group teaching, and receive academic and pastoral support.

Applicants apply to a College rather than the University. There are 29 undergraduate Colleges and these are located across the city, within walking or cycling distance of the city centre and the academic faculties and departments.
